The Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) at SSCBS (Shaheed Sukhdev College Of Business Studies) has been actively engaged in organizing a series of educational and engaging events aimed at promoting
electoral literacy and civic engagement among the student community.
At the heart of its mission lies the commitment to empower students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become informed and engaged participants in the democratic process. The club organizes a series of educational workshops, seminars, and interactive sessions designed to
demystify electoral procedures, elucidate the significance of voting rights, and highlight the role of responsible citizenship in shaping the future of society.
Slogan Writing Competition
A creative endeavor, the ELC hosted Slogan Writing Competitions to encourage students to craft impactful and concise slogans that advocate for voter awareness and participation. This activity not only sparks creativity but also challenges participants to think critically about the significance of their role as voters in a democratic society.
Poster Making Competition
Another creative avenue, the ELC organized Poster Making Competitions where students can visually express their thoughts and ideas about democracy and civic engagement. These visually appealing posters convey important messages about voting, democracy, and civic responsibility, making complex concepts accessible and engaging.
Mock Parliament
The ELC organized Mock Parliament sessions, which serve as educational simulations of the parliamentary system. During these sessions, students assume the roles of parliamentarians, engaging in debates on pertinent issues, and simulating the legislative process. This hands-on
experience helps students gain a practical understanding of how a democratic parliament functions and fosters their interest in democratic governance.
National Voter’s Day Celebration
The ELC celebrated National Voter’s Day on 25th January, 202, within the college premises. National Voter’s Day commemorates the foundation day of the Election Commission of India and is dedicated to promoting voter awareness and participation. The ELC conducted a range of activities and programs on this day to underscore the significance of voting and educate students about the
electoral process.
Electronic voting machine usage awareness
The Electoral Literacy Club of SSCBS organized an awareness session on 27 February 2024 for the proper usage of the Electronic Voting Machine. Students of the college, most of whom are first time voters, were allowed to vote on a simulation machine. The machine was brought on campus by the District Election Ofϐicer, North West Delhi. A session was conducted and students were given a
detailed demonstration on how to use the machine and how to make sure that the vote is transferred correctly. We learnt the importance of using the machine properly. Explanation was
provided bilingually in Hindi and English to ensure clarity in understanding. There was also a doubt clearing session for proper communication. The event saw enthusiastic participation from the students and was a grand success.
Our Social Media Outreach
The ELC aims to spread knowledge through all possible mediums including social media platforms such as Instagram. We post regularly regarding the various events that we conduct as well as general guidelines and informative bits regarding voter and electoral awareness.
