What We Do

The North-East Cell of SSCBS, founded in the beginning of 2023, is a vibrant initiative dedicated to showcasing the incredible cultural and natural wealth of North-East India. Our mission is to shine a spotlight on the eight enchanting states—Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, and Sikkim—by celebrating their traditions, diversity, and captivating history.

Nestled in the strategic region that borders Bangladesh, Myanmar, Bhutan, and China, the North-East is a treasure trove of stories and experiences.

However, due to this geographic isolation the region is often stereotyped and misunderstood. Our cell aims to break these barriers by fostering inclusivity, building bridges of understanding, and encouraging rich cross-cultural interactions.

From lively cultural festivals and thought-provoking film screenings to insightful academic collaborations, we welcome everyone interested in learning about the ways of north-east India, and we in turn bring the essence of the North-East to life in every way we can. We believe the region is much more than a part of India’s map—it is an indispensable thread in the nation’s vibrant and diverse identity.
