ENACTUS, or Entrepreneurial Action through Us, is an international not-for-profit organisation that works with business leaders and university students across the globe to develop outreach projects that improve the quality of life of people in need. The motto is to create self- sustainable business models, run by local entrepreneurs, with a scalable revenue model leading to social upliftment of the community. The aim is to empower the marginalised communities by enabling them to acquire a range of skills and utilise them for their own sustenance and livelihood. Enactus SSCBS is currently running the following projects
Project Raahat Due to a policy change by the Delhi government in January 2018, charging for toilets was made illegal. We were reimbursed by the Delhi government for expenses on the site. This work reduced our interventions and removed the entrepreneurial aspect from Raahat. We therefore took a backseat, and in November, had handed our sites to the entrepreneurs who were now getting direct payment from the government for running these toilet complexes. It was completely sustainable and was being run independently, without our intervention. Now, with a vision to make the model of Raahat accessible to all across the country, we created Standard Operating Procedures that were published in Amazon.
Project Khidki experienced great growth this year. A new product “the khidki bar” was launched in October. A cookie was developed to cross subsidize our work, and therefore provide high priced products at a heater price to the poor. A range of new products like soya sticks and healthy chakna are ready to be launched, as a way to target the salty food market as well. These products were sold in the colleges and at metro stations. B2B partnerships for these products like Tejas Asia, St. Stephens Hospital, construction companies, etc. were also established.
Project Udaan, which was started in 2015 with the mission to create a wave of digital literacy in rural India by setting up computer labs that utilise e-waste and build sustainable business models that empower women, was successfully delinked in year 2017-18. Another Udaan lab center in Kot was opened. A new course, HS-CIT, a Haryana government computer certified course was also introduced.
